Perun Consultants expands Greater China team with Director in Shenzhen

Perun Consultants is pleased to announce that Judy Zhu has joined the firm as a Director based in Shenzhen.

Judy joins Perun Consultants with over 17 years of professional experience, specialising in corporate restructuring, insolvency, distressed asset management and financial advisory. Her career highlights include working with state-owned enterprises (SOE) and local governments in the Greater Bay Area, providing expert advisory services on complex financial and operational challenges. Judy also assists major Chinese banks, asset management companies, and special situations funds with independent business reviews, NPL disposals, and sourcing, structuring and refinancing of distressed investment opportunities.

Judy regularly assists in court appointed bankruptcy administrations of companies engaged across a range of industries, including manufacturing, retail, construction, logistics and tourism. She brings significant expertise, having assisted as a senior member in the administration of the first insolvency case of an SOE in China, involving overseas subsidiaries and thousands of domestic and foreign creditors, and the first case in China where the creditors’ rights were 100% recovered.

Prior to joining Perun Consultants, Judy worked in both the Audit and Transaction & Restructuring Advisory Services departments at a Big Four accounting firm in China, where she led teams on high-profile engagements across various industries.

Connie Lau, Managing Director and Head of Greater China, commented: “We are excited to welcome Judy to Perun Consultants. Her extensive background and hands-on experience help enhance our regional restructuring and advisory practice, and she will play a key role as we continue to expand our presence across the China market.”

Gwynn Hopkins, Founder and Managing Director, added: “Judy is a fantastic addition to the Perun Consultants team, bringing a wealth of experience and strengthening our on-the-ground presence in mainland China. This strategic hire underscores our continued commitment to providing exceptional client services throughout Greater China.”
