Joey Sung is a Senior Director, Restructuring & Insolvency and Head of Forensic Services at Perun Consultants.

Joey is a well-established Insolvency Practitioner with over 15 years of experience in corporate and individual insolvencies, receiverships, operational restructuring, forensic accounting and investigations, litigation support, financial reviews, and corporate advisory.

Joey has extensive experience in cross-border asset recovery involving legal proceedings in the foreign jurisdictions and courts including the courts of PRC and Taiwan and, in recent years, she has also worked closely with boards of both listed and large private companies on financial planning, internal control, and cash and working capital management projects.

Her assignments cover a wide spectrum of industries including diamond trading, military schools, securities and brokerage, garment and textile, F&B, hotel, property development and manufacturing.

Joey has been recognised by Who’s Who Legal as a 2023 Global Leader - Forensic Accountants Consulting Expert.

• Court Appointed Interim Receiver of a HK company to facilitate the company in maintaining the status quo.

• Liquidator of a portfolio of Hong Kong SPVs held by a US venture capital fund.

• Liquidator of various Hong Kong and Singapore subsidiaries of a Korean enterprise.

• Liquidator of a subsidiary of a Hong Kong medical group engaged in provision of ophthalmic services.

• Liquidator of a Hong Kong company engaged in Interior Design & Construction Engineering.

• Financial adviser to a US venture capital fund in a disposal of a key investment project in Shanghai to a Japanese counterpart.

• Advisor to the board of a Hong Kong listed company in an operational restructuring assignment to facilitate the resumption of trading of its securities listed on the mainboard of Hong Kong Stock Exchange.

• Administered a liquidation of an offshore mutual fund with asset recovery of USD14.4 million.

• Administered a liquidation of a diamond trading company in Hong Kong recovering 273 diamonds and HKD12 million.

• Administered a receivership of shares in a Hong Kong listed company and its subsidiaries in Mainland China.

• Disposed of manufacturing facilities (occupying more than 70 acres land) to the local government in Jiangxi Province in a liquidation of a Hong Kong company and its subsidiaries in Mainland China.

• Disposed of a land of 6,000 sq. meters in Shenzhen in a liquidation of a Hong Kong company and its subsidiary in Mainland China.

• Negotiated with Dongguan Middle Court and State Administration of Foreign Exchange of Guangdong Province to obtain an approval to repatriate the sales proceeds from Mainland China to Hong Kong in a liquidation of a Hong Kong company.

• Applied to the High Court of HKSAR for an injunction and obtained the order to freeze bank accounts of various family members of a bankrupt.

• Assisted in production of an expert witness report on findings of USD290 million being misappropriated by the former director of a conglomerate listed on the Taiwan Stock Exchange and obtained favorable judgments all the way through to the Hong Kong Court of Final Appeal.

• Assisted in production of an expert witness report to the High Court of HKSAR to account for profits of two popular Japanese-sushi restaurant groups comprising of 30 restaurants in Hong Kong.

• Assisted in production of a report to the Secretary for Justice under Section 277(2) of the Companies (Winding up and Miscellaneous Provisions) that led to the conviction of the former director in a liquidation of a Hong Kong company.

• Assisted in valuation of a main board listed Hong Kong company engaged in building energy pipelines in Mainland China.

• Assisted in valuation of a GEM board listed Hong Kong company engaged in environmental services, plastic dyeing business and development of dock project in Mainland China.
