Perun Consultants Rolodex: Meet Tavish MacLean

Introducing our resident accountant-slash-puzzle solver

In addition to pragmatism, professionalism, and proficiency, experiential diversity sits at the cornerstone of our ethos here at Perun Consultants. Alongside our roster of clients and our workflow, as colleagues, all of our roles are quite varied as well—and mine is no exception.

My name is Tavish MacLean, and I am a Senior Manager. As a forensic accountant with a background in corporate advisory, restructuring, due diligence matters, and insolvency, my practice revolves around investigations, expert witness assignments, quantum of damages calculations, and litigation support (where valuation or other forensic accounting matters are at issue).

There’s no such thing as a routine day at work here—our day-to-day is marked by the movement of our cases, rather than the more predictable ebb and flow of tax seasons and audit periods. While the intrinsic function of accountancy is to simply serve as the backbone of the financial world, my work here at Perun Consultants is more specifically focused on matters in dispute where truth is often deliberately obscure.

Recently, our most interesting appointments have been conflict directorships, where we’re tasked with immediately stepping into an adversarial position for an outgoing director. With especially problematic circumstances, these types of roles put us online with local and offshore legal teams, and in courtroom witness boxes across the globe. They also familiarise us with an ever-growing litany of fraud schemes that require such coordination.

Perhaps Perun Consultants can be of assistance to you? While we are currently working remotely, you can always reach me via my contact page.

P.S. When I’m not covering both local and cross-border engagements, outside of the office I captain a dragon boat club here in Hong Kong, and I spend quality time with my six-month old son, Ocean. As soon as he’s old enough to stand in ski boots, it’s off to the hills!
